Caroline Bollmann is an architect and urban planner trained at UFPR, with graduate studies at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona), a master's degree from UFPR and an international Healthy Building certificate. She is the founder and lead architect of Espaço A Arquitetura, in Curitiba, Brazil.

AsBEA is the Brazilian Association of Architecture Offices. AsBEA-PR is the Paraná chapter, which brings together architecture practices in the state and works alongside CAU/PR. Caroline Bollmann was Vice-President of Interiors at AsBEA-PR in the 2022/2024 term, and Espaço A Arquitetura is a member of the association. Yes. Espaço A develops architecture and interior architecture, together or separately, including layout, custom millwork, lighting design and furniture curation.

Yes. The studio designs renovations and retrofits for apartments, homes and commercial spaces, always starting with a technical assessment of the property.

Yes. The studio is based in Curitiba, Paraná, and works in other cities in Paraná, other Brazilian states and abroad, combining remote coordination with site visits according to the construction phase.

Arquitetura Saudável é uma metodologia que integra qualidade do ar, conforto acústico, iluminação circadiana, biofilia e materiais de baixa emissão criteriosamente selecionados no projeto. O objetivo é criar ambientes que regeneram o bem-estar físico, mental e emocional de quem os habita, com respaldo da certificação internacional Healthy Building.

VOCs are Volatile Organic Compounds emitted by paints, solvents, adhesives, finishes and some furniture. In enclosed spaces they can irritate the airways, cause headaches, trigger allergies and reduce indoor air quality. That is why we specify low-VOC-emission materials in our projects.

Sustainability focuses on the building's impact on the planet; Healthy Architecture focuses on the building's impact on human health. At Espaço A the two practices go hand in hand — low-VOC materials, efficient ventilation and natural light benefit both the occupant and the environment.

The process moves through a detailed briefing, preliminary study, schematic design, a complete detailed design with furniture, lighting and automation specifications, and construction oversight. In projects with a health focus, we include analysis of sun exposure, acoustics and air quality.

Complete residential projects take on average 4 to 8 months for the design phase, depending on complexity and area. Simpler renovations can be ready in 2 to 3 months. Construction is planned on a separate schedule.

The studio is based in Curitiba, Brazil, but we develop projects throughout Brazil and abroad, with remote support and in-person technical visits according to the stage of construction.

Yes. Renovations are excellent opportunities to correct issues in a property — improving acoustic insulation, replacing finishes with low-emission options, redesigning the flow of natural light and introducing biophilia, without the need for structural works.
