Sunset House
Revista Casa Sul dedicated issue 118 to the 500 m² residence designed by Caroline Bollmann in the Riviera neighborhood of Curitiba: the Sunset House opens to the west with a contemporary façade, white volumes, a vertical garden and social areas integrated with the infinity pool.
The feature walks through the house's three floors, the design's response to the topography with parking for six vehicles in the basement, the elevator, the glass-skinned staircase and the vertical garden as a central element. It highlights the solar orientation, the indoor-outdoor integration, the custom millwork, the automated lighting design and the large-format slab cladding that unites the façade, staircase and fireplace.
Architecture and design professionals honored in Curitiba

As the family grew — the couple was expecting twins — the move to a larger apartment called for a renovation completed in forty-five working days. The palette moves between shades of gray, white and honey-toned wood; wood panels and straight-lined furniture tie the rooms together. In the entrance hall, porcelain tile gives way to wood flooring that defines the social area, and Mont Dore Anticato limestone clads the living room fireplace and the powder room basin. Since the unit had only essential lighting outlets, a new lighting design was developed, with technical and decorative LED fixtures.

Caroline Bollmann designed the Living and Dining Room with Tidelli Balcony, inspired by the blue of the ocean and guided by an original photograph on the balcony. On the night of August 8, 2018, the Momenttum store in Curitiba launched four environments signed by four Paraná-based studios, including Espaço A Arquitetura with a project by Caroline Bollmann. In parallel, Jacqueline Terpins presented the talk 'Inspiration and Creation' and her new furniture line, received exclusively by the store.

The Kaza Awards and the Ponto de Apoio Decoration Association selected Brazil's 100 most influential decoration professionals, with ten Curitiba studios among those chosen — Caroline Bollmann among them.

The second edition of the “Cabeças 2011 na Momentum” event brought together architects and interior designers to see the pieces customized by 20 Curitiba studios chosen by businesswoman Marinice Bettega.

Twenty studios customize ceramic heads for a social project
Momentum & Design held the second stage of the “Cabeças 2011” social project, inviting twenty architecture and design studios from Curitiba to customize ceramic heads — among them, Caroline Bollmann.
At the end of the project, the pieces were auctioned off with proceeds going to Abracce, the Brazilian Association for Assistance to Citizens with Cancer and Special Needs. The creations were on display in the store's Espaço Garden.

Asked about sizing, architect Caroline Bollmann explains that there is no standard measurement: everything depends on how many people the owner usually hosts and the kind of meat they usually grill. In apartments, the grill opening averages 50 cm to 60 cm; in houses, it ranges from 70 cm to 80 cm.
Architecture, space, lighting and landscaping conceived simultaneously and in an integrated way make this house designed by Caroline Bollmann a success story in Campo Comprido, Curitiba. With every discipline perfectly in sync, the 500 m² construction was completed in just 12 months — the studio was involved from choosing the lot to the family's move-in.

Natural decoration and beauty: how to grow a garden indoors

Five solutions for hiding the laundry room without losing natural light
The feature brings together projects that separate kitchen and laundry areas while preserving lighting and ventilation. Caroline Bollmann is behind one of the solutions and comments on the use of sliding doors as discreet panels.
In the featured project, the architect separated a 4 m² laundry area from a 9 m² kitchen with a sliding glass door with sandblasted details — one movable panel and two fixed ones, spanning 2.2 m in width — combining translucency, privacy and natural light.

The project began with a full renovation, involving wall removal, a complete change of finishes and new lighting points, which allowed every detail to be carefully considered. It took months of research with the mother across stores and suppliers nationwide. The standout feature was the closet integrated into the bedroom, which expanded the sense of space and reconciled classic decor with contemporary use. Custom white lacquer paneling and closet, a classic-provençal-style crib and bed, ipê oliva engineered-wood flooring, organza curtains with pure silk drapes, and lilac playing with light and dark shades throughout the room, with luminous crystal accents.

To decorate, integrate or divide: the role of sliding doors

According to the architect, as homes became more open-plan walls came down and sliding doors moved in; tracks that once carried 50 kilos now support up to 500. She also advises that the handle be proportional to the door — recessed pulls when it stays mostly open, generous surface-mounted pieces when the appeal is aesthetic. Caroline Bollmann travels to Dubai to see contemporary architecture
Architect Caroline Bollmann traveled to Dubai, at the invitation of businessman Paulo César Pereira, director of the Baluarte Todeschini stores in Curitiba, to see up close the contemporary architecture of the Emirati capital.
The trip included visits to major construction projects in the city, among them the Palm Jumeirah complex, as well as beachfront residential villas — a repertoire that continues to inform the studio's design references.
The feature on custom furniture includes Caroline Bollmann commenting on practicality as one of the most frequent requests in interior design briefs when the client is a mother.
According to the architect, clients look for well-designed, easy-to-use furniture that organizes spaces and keeps up with the family's routine. She also points out that the choice of low-maintenance materials and finishes — such as melamine and wood-look surfaces — must be based on each person's lifestyle.
By removing walls and applying premium finishes, architect Caroline Bollmann created a large, majestic social area for the apartment of a couple who traded their house for the practicality of apartment living. Four closed-off rooms gave way to an integrated living area, with an entrance hall marked by imbuia-clad columns and a floor designed in crema marfil, marrom imperador and verde alpi marbles.
The feature highlights the blend of classic decor and the contemporary approach to integrated spaces: a custom Bohemia Czech crystal chandelier in the dining room, English medallion-back chairs in fendi silk, a fireplace integrated with the imbuia and crema marfil marble TV panel, Persian rugs, a mirrored bombé chest of drawers, and antique pieces belonging to the resident. Neutral colors and sandy undertones, bold lighting, a sunken dining room with a black crystal table, a lounge with a bar counter and a sucupira wood wine cellar, a master suite with a closet that can be isolated by a wood panel, and a bathroom in neutral tones with dark wood furniture and marble countertops. The façade integrates landscaping and plant niches, blending contemporary lines with classic frames and large openings. The material includes a supplier list featuring NPK Mármores, Espaço Goya, Balaroti Design, Rudegon and Persépolis Tapetes. Date provisional, based on the publication period.

“Sem Limites” project wins the Casa Que Protege competition
A feature on architectural barriers highlights the “Sem Limites” project, winner of the Casa Que Protege competition, developed by students of the UFPR Architecture course — Caroline Bollmann among them.
The competition encouraged residential solutions for older people and people with physical disabilities. Ten architecture and decoration studios from Paraná were honored among the 100 most influential names of Kaza magazine, at a ceremony at the La Luna event venue in São Paulo.
Among the Curitiba-based attendees were Jocymara Nicolau, Nicole Fuck representing Bárbara Sganzerla, Ponto de Apoio president Marinice Mattos Leão Bettega, architect Caroline Bollmann and businesswoman Soraya Ribas.

The announcement of the Top 100 award, an initiative of Kaza magazine with the Ponto de Apoio Association, listed the ten Paraná decoration studios chosen among the most influential in Brazil — Caroline Bollmann among them.

Mostra Casa de Idéias presents Ton Sur Ton's new releases
The Casa de Idéias furniture show brought together 13 spaces created by 17 architects and designers with Ton Sur Ton's 2007/2008 new releases — among them, the living room by Caroline Bollmann.
The room designed by Caroline brought together living room, family room and dining room, with a home theater console in reclaimed wood and an oval table in laminated wood and lacquer with chairs upholstered in synthetic leather.

Master's thesis: finishing materials and perceived comfort in interiors
The official record of UFPR's Graduate Program in Civil Construction lists the defense of Caroline Bollmann Zaleski's master's thesis, supervised by Prof. Aloísio Leoni Schmid.
The research — “Materials and comfort: a study of the preference for certain finishing materials and its relationship with perceived comfort in residential interiors” — is the academic foundation of the healthy architecture and environmental comfort approach the studio still follows today.
Gourmet Kitchen: Caroline Bollmann at Mostra Open House
Mostra Open House by Casa Sul and Ávila Sofás brought together 18 winter spaces, across roughly 800 sqm, designed by architects and designers from Curitiba. The Gourmet Kitchen was designed by Caroline Bollmann.
Open to the public at the Ávila Sofás showroom for four months, the show presented furniture launches and trends with a difference: visitors knew who designed each room, the brands involved and the price of the products on display. Among the trends presented were natural materials and the kitchen reclaimed as the center of family life — the premise of the room designed by the architect.
