The client's challenge
The couple purchased a 285 m² apartment in the Pinah building, by Construtora Laguna, in Batel — the first residential building in Latin America undergoing WELL certification, conceived as an art-piece property dedicated to human and environmental well-being, with common areas integrated into nature and a private grove. The challenge was to make the interiors speak the same language: personalizing a high-end floor plan without diluting the building's health and comfort proposal, keeping the same rigor in thermal and acoustic comfort, air quality, controlled natural light and the presence of vegetation. At the same time, the living room needed to accommodate a home theater without isolating the dining room, the kitchen had to invite gathering, and the private area had to house a master suite with closet and resort-style bathroom, plus two bedrooms with their own personalities — all in a restrained language, from the elevator lobby to the suite bathroom.
The design solution
The project treated the apartment as a continuous sequence of rooms. From the elevator lobby, the eye travels across wood panels, an oval mirror and calacatta marble flooring until reaching the social living room, where a modular sofa, home theater and dining table share the same plane. The social kitchen with a gray marble island was positioned as an extension of the dining room, inviting whoever is cooking to join the conversation. Horizontal blinds and linen curtains filter natural light, while rugs, upholstery and wood panels control the acoustics. In the private area, the master suite gained a mirrored closet with a central marble island and a spa bathroom with a sculpted countertop and free-standing tub; the daughter's room received a slatted panel, a pink upholstered headboard and a floating desk with a checkered mirror; and the son's room was designed with clean lines, a gray upholstered headboard and neutral tones for rest and study.
The apartment's entrance already announces the palette: in the elevator lobby, oak-toned wood panels warm up the arrival, an oval mirror enlarges natural light and calacatta marble flooring leads the eye to the living room. This material continuity is the thread that unites every room, from social to private.
The social living room was conceived as a multi-use space on a single plane. The gray modular sofa organizes the home theater, while the solid wood dining table with dark green velvet chairs marks the gathering point. The wood panels in the background support the TV and create a warm base that balances the hard surfaces of marble and glass.
The social kitchen with a central gray marble island stopped being a service space and became part of the gathering area. Upholstered stools, taupe cabinets, a cylindrical stainless-steel hood and a mirrored panel visually expand the space, while efficient exhaust and inert finishes ensure air quality during meal preparation.
The master suite was treated as a refuge. The master bedroom, with a king bed, gray upholstered headboard and white bedding, opens visually to the mirrored closet with a marble island and linear lighting. The spa bathroom, with a sculpted countertop, illuminated niches, tropical greenery and a free-standing tub, completes the wellness experience.
The children's bedrooms repeat the serene palette with their own identity. The daughter's room combines a slatted wood panel, a pink upholstered headboard, a knitted throw and a floating desk with a checkered mirror. The son's room keeps clean lines, a gray upholstered headboard, white bedding and horizontal blinds that filter light for rest and study.
