An interior design project in Brasília that integrated the living room, dining room and kitchen into a single social living area, designed the master suite in natural wood and extended the gathering space to the veranda with a vertical garden, a swing and a gourmet balcony.

The client's challenge
The apartment, in an upscale area of Brasília, was compartmentalized: small rooms, an isolated kitchen and a dark service area occupying precisely the best solar orientation. The family wanted to keep the address but needed a home that flowed — kitchen, dining room and living room visually connected, with generous space for hosting and intimate corners for everyday life. The interior design project also needed to modernize finishes and installations and bring natural light to the central rooms.
The design solution
The project removed non-structural internal walls and reorganized the apartment into a large social living area, where kitchen, dining room and living room share light and ventilation. The former service area gave way to a winter garden facing the morning sun, bringing vegetation to the heart of the home. Natural wood is the connecting thread — wall panels, custom millwork, the slatted panel in the master suite and classics such as the Mole armchairs — while the ceramic cobogó screen divides the rooms without blocking the light. Each corner gained a clear function: the oval table for dinners, the linen sofa and armchairs for conversation, the bar corner with a glazed wine cellar for hosting, the gourmet balcony with a barbecue for outdoor meals, the swing under the vertical garden for slowing down, and the powder room as a small gesture of refinement.
Opening up the floor plan transformed the circulation: the eye travels from the lobby to the veranda in a continuous gesture, enhancing the sense of space without changing the square footage. Natural light, previously confined to the windows, now reaches the kitchen and central circulation through strategic openings and the permeability of the cobogó screen.
The kitchen stopped being a service space and became part of the gathering area: the high countertop with caramel leather stools brings whoever is cooking closer to whoever is talking, and the brown ceramic cobogó screen filters the light, creating a delicate division from the dining room, where the oval wood table and linen chairs welcome the family. Properly sized exhaust and countertops in inert materials ensure air quality and hygiene during food preparation.
In the living room, the continuous wood panel, geometric artwork, linen sofa and caramel leather Mole armchairs define the conversation corner, while the bar corner — with a vitrified cobogó screen, glazed wine cellar and yellow stools — takes on the role of meeting point and color accent. The details do the rest: a wood console, curated objects, greenery and the powder room with a sculpted countertop, organic mirror and burnished cement.
The veranda is the natural extension of this living room: the lush vertical garden and the suspended swing create a resting refuge with a view of the city, and the gourmet balcony, with a built-in barbecue, round table and dark millwork, takes meals outdoors. In the private area, the master suite closes the journey with a slatted wood panel, light linen and a soft-diffusion light fixture — the same repertoire of materials in a quieter version, designed for rest.
