The client's challenge
Reorganize the apartment's 250 m² so the couple could entertain frequently without sacrificing the privacy of the intimate rooms. The brief called for uniting the kitchen, dining room and living room into a single fluid space while keeping the option to close off the kitchen when needed — all within a timeless palette that would not compete with the city view.
The design solution
The answer was an outdoor kitchen with a central island, cooktop and stainless steel range hood, matte gray cabinets and light countertops. The transparent glass partition visually separates the kitchen from the dining room without breaking the continuity of natural light, allowing the space to be closed off with sliding doors when dinner calls for more formality. The wood flooring warms the dining room, while pendant lighting over the table sets the scene for gathering. In the details, neutral finishes, brushed metals and custom millwork ensure order and durability.
Apartment R | S was designed around the couple's social life. At 250 m² in Curitiba, the project reorganized the apartment so the kitchen, dining room and living room would flow as one, without losing the option to close off the kitchen when the occasion called for more formality.
The outdoor kitchen gained a central island equipped with a cooktop and stainless steel range hood, matte gray cabinets and light countertops that reflect the light. The transparent glass partition keeps a continuous visual reading between the spaces, but includes sliding doors to contain odors and noise during dinners.
In the dining room, the wood flooring contrasts with the neutral base of the outdoor kitchen and creates a warmer atmosphere. Sculptural pendant lights over the table set the scene for meals, while the custom millwork conceals what needs to disappear and displays what deserves attention.
The timeless palette — gray, white, natural wood and brushed metals — was chosen so as not to compete with the city view. The result is an apartment that seems to have been built around the act of living: functional for daily routine, elegant for entertaining.
