An 800 m² residence in the Santa Felicidade neighborhood: the original 400 m² house didn't suit the residents, so it was completely renovated and expanded with an additional 400 m² leisure and wellness area, combining a contemporary façade, a second garage, an indoor pool, spa, sauna, gym and games room.

The client's challenge
The 400 m² house already existed, but it didn't suit its current residents: the façade did not reflect the family's contemporary identity, the leisure area was disconnected from the private rooms, and a second garage was missing. The challenge was to transform the residence without tearing down what worked — renovating the entire façade and building, annexed to the original house, a new 400 m² leisure and wellness area that would house an indoor pool, spa, sauna, gym and games room, while maintaining residential scale, natural light, ventilation and privacy.
The design solution
The renovation completely redesigned the façade with white and gray volumes, reflective window frames and slatted wood panels that filter light and give the house a contemporary identity. The expansion annexed a new 400 m² leisure and wellness area to the original structure: the second garage was positioned to open directly into this volume, creating a continuous flow between arrival, reception and gathering. The new glazed covered hall, with a white metal structure, houses an indoor pool, a spa with hydromassage, a sauna, a full gym and a games room, integrated with the garden by a green wall with a waterfall, loungers and resting benches. Low-emission materials, cross ventilation and strategic vegetation apply the pillars of healthy architecture to the renovated and expanded ensemble.
The house already existed, but it did not reflect the family's way of living. Instead of starting from scratch, the project preserved the original 400 m² structure and transformed it: it renovated the entire façade and annexed a new 400 m² area dedicated to leisure and wellness. The second garage is not just another parking spot: it reorganizes the access and opens directly into the new leisure volume, turning the trip from the car to the pool into a continuous, private experience.
The redesigned façade works with three materials — white and gray plaster and slatted wood — that alternate across planes and brise-soleils. The reflective window frames enhance the sense of depth and reflect the sky and garden, integrating the house with the street without sacrificing the privacy of the private rooms.
The new annexed volume functions as a single leisure and wellness hall: an indoor pool, a spa with hydromassage, a sauna, a gym and a games room share the same fluid, ventilated and naturally lit space. The pool table, hammock and light stone benches set the room's relaxed tone, while the glazed roof with a white metal structure lets the sky's light in. A green wall with a waterfall, loungers and gray porcelain tile flooring create a scene integrated with nature. Controlled openings and low-emission materials keep air quality high throughout the year.
