The client's challenge

Occupying the storefront of a leading Brazilian design store and turning it into an environment that would invite passersby on the sidewalk to stop, look and picture that set inside their own home — with a clear read from a distance, both day and night.

The design solution

The scene was set up as a real living room: a white sofa with clean lines and silk cushions in grayish tones, a natural-fiber armchair, a metal sideboard and ceramic vases with lilies. The earth-toned back wall gives depth to the white of the furniture, while the handcrafted white iron chandelier and the sculptural sconce in metal and stones draw the eye upward. The recessed ceiling lighting, with directional spotlights, ensures the composition stays alive after dark, and the architect's name applied to the storefront's fascia signs the work.

In 2008, the studio signed the storefront of the Artefacto store in Curitiba — one of Caroline Bollmann's first commercial set-design projects for a leading Brazilian design brand.

The composition favors white and neutral tones: a sofa with clean lines, a natural-fiber armchair and silk cushions in gray, brown and floral print. The earth-toned background works as a frame, making the light-colored furniture stand forward toward the glass.

The lighting fixtures take on a sculptural role. The white iron chandelier with curved arms and the metal sconce with light-colored stones bring craftsmanship and delicacy to an essentially contemporary setting, while the lilies in the ceramic vases reinforce the presence of nature.

The black fascia with the name Caroline Bollmann seals the project's authorship and marks the beginning of a long-standing relationship between the studio and the store — resumed years later in new storefronts and showcases.
