A contemporary 300 m² house on a compact lot in Barigui: light-colored volumes, large window frames, a pool and a leisure area integrated with the living room, without sacrificing comfort and privacy.

The client's challenge
Site a 300 m² house on a compact lot that would include a pool and integrated leisure area. The client wanted spacious social areas, comfortable bedrooms and an outdoor gathering area — all within a reduced footprint, without the property losing brightness, ventilation or a sense of spaciousness.
The design solution
We made the most of the setbacks and permitted height to efficiently distribute the rooms: the bedrooms were positioned on the quietest side, while the social spaces open onto the leisure area at the back. The pool, deck and barbecue area were designed as an extension of the living room, with sliding window frames and continuous flooring that dissolve the boundary between indoors and outdoors. High windows and brise-soleils filter the light, ensure privacy and natural ventilation, while the vertical garden brings greenery to the heart of the project.
The site plan started from a careful study of the compact lot and its construction possibilities. Instead of scattering the volumes, the setbacks were concentrated at the back to make room for a complete leisure area: a pool, deck and barbecue area connected visually and functionally to the kitchen and living room.
The integration between indoors and outdoors is achieved through sliding window frames and flooring that extends from the living room to the deck, expanding the perception of space on a small lot. The vertical garden, positioned at the rear, brings greenery and texture without taking up usable lot area.
The materiality is honest and low-emission: exposed concrete, certified wood, natural stone and VOC-free paints. The continuous landscaping between indoors and outdoors applies biophilia as a structural part of the project — not as decoration.
